treat(s) of the month: May

A freshly baked collection of ✨whatever✨ we found inspirational, meaningful, or simply interesting this month.

Istvan Szilagyi (CEO)

is critical of the NFT bubble

Honestly, I am concerned at some of the recent developments in the NFT bubble. One example: the world’s first football metaverse startup from Munich that just scored €2.5 Million for a tiny amount of users. “Already, the startup has successfully dropped four NFT collections with its partners and has generated over €270,000 in revenues in less than four weeks. All drops were sold out in less than 24 hours, and the community has reached 25k users so far.” I just can’t stop thinking: for WHAT exactly?

had some Leberkäse from a responsible Vienna-based fish farm

A couple of weeks ago, I visited the Zukunftshof in the south of Vienna, at which local food manufacturers presented their products. One of them was blün, a company that uses an aquaponic system.
Aquaponics is a food production system that couples aquaculture (raising aquatic animals such as fish, crayfish, snails or prawns in tanks) with hydroponics (cultivating plants in water).
They also produce Leberkäse with catfish, which sounds strange but is actually much better than the original Leberkäse, in my opinion!

Marie-Claire Gagnon (Chief Copy)
visited the WIENER FESTWOCHEN Pickle Bar
For the Wiener Festwochen, the artists’ collective Slavs and Tatars opened up a Pickle Bar. Every Tuesday and Thursday, this Slav version of an aperitivo bar serves pickled delicacies and fermented juices and raises exceptional toasts.
They have invited the artists Nora Turato, Selin Davasse, Veronika Merklein & Ela A. Sattler, Mai Ling and Onur Karaoğlu to host evenings at the bar Spitzer in 1020 Vienna. I saw Nora Turato perform at the Pickle Bar this May and it was amazing to see her in such an intimate and unique setting!

Anna Schimmerl (Chief Projects)
kept up with soccer news

My treat of the month has got to be the FC Köln making it into the Europe Conference League. That’s a huge achievement, considering they were playing in the relegation last season, but their fantastic coach Steffen Baumgart got the best out of everyone. The big news of Salih Özcan’s move to Borussia Dortmund also surprised me, as he was an essential player to the team, and I am sad to see him go, but of course, it’s an excellent opportunity for him. I can’t wait for the next season!

Yves-Michele Saß (Director Art + Knowledge)

discovered an iconic performance

I am very grateful that my office colleagues shared this gem with me. Stunning performance by Ades Zabel and a great song by Vicky Leandros!
